Exciting Pictures from April 9th Triple F Kickboxing Event in Roseville, CA

IKF Point Kickboxing Added Excitement!

Although not mentioned in the initial write-up, the IKF Point Kickboxing matches on the under card of the World Title fight were certainly a great addition to the excitement for the evening.  Many came to see the youngsters go at it in PKB action and the youth did not let them down!

Only three PKB bouts were featured and they were loaded with action!

First, Sean Cronin of Rocklin  defeated Sean Robello of Antioch in a close decision.

Next,  Rjay Dominia of Antioch, CA who fights out of the Dennis Guila School of Kickboxing out pointed Aaron Wieand from the JD Kickboxing school of Rocklin.

In the final PKB bout of the evening Courtney Personett of Rocklin got revenge on tough Yesenia Torres of Dixon, CA.

In a previous PKB event held at Lord's Gym in Roseville, Torres took it to Personett and enjoyed the sweet victory.  However, Personett has been training hard and improving weekly and would not have it this time around.  Now that they are one and one, perhaps a rubber match is in the near future!

All Matches in the PKB are semi contact and no knockouts are allowed.  Juniors  were face guard and 12 oz while face guards are optional for the adult, 16 oz gloves are worn. (Right) Sean Cronin -red- lands a cross on Sean Robello. (Right) RJayDomina celebrates victory with trainer Mr. Dennis Guila of Antioch.

Personett lands right uppercut on Torres in their PKB battle!

Check out the fun and excitement a the next PKB to be held on June 4th, at the Lords Gym.  See more at www.AKPromotions.org/PKB.htm

Anthony McGaughey

is New IKF Amateur Light Middleweight World Champion!

Referee Dan Stell presents belt to New World Champ. Anthony McGaughey!

Right-Promoter Johnny Davis (Center) with Anthony McGaughey and  Mike "Mad Dog" Morello Right

This past Saturday April 9th, four time IKF National Champion Anthony McGauhey of Norman, OK defeated Mike "Mad Dog" Morello of Santa Barbara, CA in an exciting and action packed unanimous decision!  The IKF Triple F Kickboxing event was held a the Roseville Events Center and hosted several exciting matches on the under card.

McGaughey pressed the action throughout the fight scoring two to one on Morello!  However, it was not that Morello did not do well in the five round fight.  In fact, he scored the bigger shots throughout the match and had the poise of a real pro.  In retrospect, this may have been his downfall.  If you can't produce a knockout in a fight, the win goes to the person scoring the most points and in this case, it was clear this went to McGaughey.

Results from the IKF News Page:

  1. IR: Charles Ceasar of San Francisco, California (2-1/0, 215, 6'1", 33) defeated Jerry Wright of Whittier, California, USA (0-3, 199, 6', 37) by TKO at 1:56 of round 1.
  2. IR: Dogamaye Bonner of Sacramento, California, USA (1-0/0, 160, 6'2", 25) defeated Kenyan Atkins of Modesto, California, USA (1-2, 160, 5'8", 23) by unanimous decision 29-28 on all 3 judges cards.
  3. IR: Betram "Baby Boy" Bunch of Santa Barbara, California, USA (2-1/0, 177, 5'11", 23) defeated Raymond Doxie of Yuba City, California, USA (0-2/0, 174, 6'2", 24) by majority decision 28-27, 29-27 and 27-27.
  4. IR: In a very wild bout Eugene Ivanov of Roseville, California, USA (0-0-1/0, 147, 6'1", 17) and Dustin Akbari of Sacramento, California, USA (0-0-1/0, 145, 5'8", 17) fought to a majority draw, 29-28, 28-28 and 28-28.
In the bout Ivanov was penalized a point for a low kick by referee Jon Schorle.
  5. IR: Richard Houston of Whittier, California, USA (3-1/0, 185, 6'2", 34) defeated Justin Humphries of Modesto, California, USA (0-2/0, 187, 6'2", 27) by TKO at 1:41 of round 1 when Humphries was unable to continue due to a foot injury.
Midway through round 1, Humphries kicked at Houston and his foot landed square on Huston's groin cup. After Houston recovered, Humphries went to fight but he could not stand on his foot which appeared to be injured from the impact of Houston's cup.
  6. FCR: Marcus Crandle of Roseville, California (5-0, 149, 5'10", 19) defeated Eric Jones of Santa Barbara, California, USA (0-1, 146, 5'10", 35) by TKO at 1:21 of round 2.
Crandle who was up on all 3 judges cards 10-9 after round 1 landed a strong right hand on Jones that dropped him to the canvas.
  7. IR: Aaron Grewer of Roseville, California, USA (3-1-1/1, 169, 6'3", 23) and Luis Benevidos of Whittier, California, USA (4-2-1/0, 165, 5'10", 17) fought to a split decision draw, 29-27, 27-29 and 28-28.
Benevidos was penalized a point for a low kick in round 2 by referee Jon Schorle.
  8. IKF Amateur FCR Light Middleweight World Title
Anthony McGaughey of Norman, Oklahoma, USA (27-1-1/16, 157, 5'11", 27) defeated Mike Morello of Santa Barbara, California, USA (8-6-1/2, 157, 5-10", 32) by unanimous decision 48-47, 49-46 and 48-47.

Morello Vs McGaughey…

Set to Rumpus in Roseville-Sat. April 9th!

Plus, an exciting under card of local fighters

The talking is almost over and the time is drawing nearer for the walking!  That’s when IKF West Coast and 2004 North American champ Mike “Mad Dog” Morello of Santa Barbara, CA will “leave it all in the ring” as he says of his fight against four time IKF National Champ Anthony McGaughey of Norman, OK for the vacant IKF Amateur Light Middle Weight Championship of the World!  You can expect some real fireworks as both men are hungry to take home the gold and the honor to be called a world champion!

It will be a great night of kickboxing for all to see, with talented up and coming fighters eager to kickoff the evening in assorted styles of full contact Kickboxing fights!

A.K. Promotions has been putting the final touches on the April 9th event to be held at the Roseville Sports Complex, located at 1545 Pleasant Grove Blvd. in Roseville, CA.  Articles and ads will be running in two local papers, radio spots start April 4th and air throughout the week on the popular KSFM 102.5 radio station and posters and flyers are plastered in gyms and businesses in the area. “Tickets are selling faster for this event then any event to date promoted by the company.  It seems that people have become more acquainted with IKF Triple F Kickboxing and are falling in love with the ambiance and action at the events”, says an AK representative.

The day will start with the official weigh ins that will be held at the Roseville Sports Complex at 10: AM.  Immediately following the weigh ins will be the official rules meeting.  At 5:PM the doors will open to an expected sellout crowd of excited fans!  Around 6:PM the evening will start with a song of patriotism from one of Sacramento’s finest, 15 year old Alexis Witherspoon, who also has performed the National Anthem for the Sacramento Kings and is simply awesome!

Next, the action kicks off with some exciting fights from local kickboxers looking to make a name.  (Fights not listed in order and are subjected to change)  Talented super middle weight Aaron Grewer (IR) out of Niavaroni’s Kickboxing of Roseville will take on tough Luis Benevidos of Southern California; Light heavy weight Raymond Doxie (IR) of Yuba City will take on Betram “Baby Boy” Bunch of Santa Barbara, CA; The ever exciting and Former World Middleweight pro champion Dave Marinoble of Roseville, CA protégé’ Marcus Crandle (AK) will take on top Black Belt / Kickboxer Joe Pantuja of Liner’s Kenpo of Sacramento in lightweight action! Light Cruiserweights Chris Sasek (IR) of San Jose will battle Richard Houston of  Chris Moorings Kickboxing out of PowerBox Gym of Whittier, CA!

In what is expected to be a blowout match up- tough Juan Carlos Vega (AK) of Aztec Kickboxing out of Dixon, CA will take on the always determined Andrew Morrello of Santa Barbara, CA.  Andrew is the brother of one of the main event fighters of the evening- Mike Morello.  He’s hoping to set the right tone early that evening for the Morello family with a big win over Vega!; Heavyweight Charles Caesar (IR)  of San Francisco, CA who trains out of Navarro’s Kickboxing will take on Jerry Wright of Whittier, CA. also fighting out of the Chris Moorings Camp; Super Heavyweight Jim Chapman (IR) of San Jose, CA will challenge the always ready to battle Big Dustin Hanning of Modesto, CA!

As one can see the under card will be packed and loaded with action to lead up to the main event. Just before the Main Event, Alexis will again entertain the crowd with another patriotic song as we get ready to Kickarumpus and witness the battle for the IKF Light Middleweight Championship of the World… Morello Vs McGaughey!

Oh, and did we mention the beautiful and talented Ring Girls!  We will again feature past and present Ms. Auburn Queens to present the rounds and awards throughout the evening.

But that’s not all…there will also be some exciting IKF Point "semi contact" Kickboxing bouts  to fill in between the full contact action!  These fights always bring lots of excitement as the "future of kickboxing" show their wares!  Confirmed bouts at release of this article will be 12 year old Courtney Personett of Rocklin will take on the aggressive 12 year old Yesenia Torres of Dixon, CA.  Also slated to compete will be Sean Robello of Antioch, CA Vs Sean Cronin of Rocklin, and others.

IKF Triple F World Championship

Saturday, April 9th, 2005

Roseville Sports Complex - 1545 Pleasant Grove Blvd. - Roseville, CA 95745

Roseville, California, USA: When opportunity knocks...open the door! That's exactly what promoter Johnny Davis did when the opportunity came across his desk to promote an IKF Amateur World Title fight. Although its for an amateur title (Not to downplay the amateur division of course), its a step in the right direction for Davis who is passionate about growing the sport of Kickboxing.

In fact, at press time, Davis was delighted that IKF President Steve Fossum along with the IKF Title Board agreed to sanction the match-up between 2004 IKF/TKO FCR North American and IKF West Coast Super Middleweight Champion Mike Morello (Right) of Santa Barbara, California and 2002 IKF FCR North American Champion and "FOUR" time IKF National Champion Anthony McGaughey (Left, 2000, 2001, 2002 & 2003) of Norman Oklahoma.

The location for the event is the beautiful Roseville Sports Complex located at 1545 Pleasant Grove Blvd.

"This will be a great fight" says Davis! Both men have proven that they are talented and deserving. Both men are hungry to become a world champion. Anthony's outstanding record of 26-1-1, with 16 wins by KO/TKO's, is evident that he has 'mad skills' and is able to handle himself well.

Although Morello's record is not as extensive (8-5-1/2), what he can be proud of is that he has done well under Full Contact Rules where he has made his mark. Although he won his IKF West Coast title under International Rules, his best style is Full Contact. He proved this to to his peers at the 2004 IKF/TKO North American Championship Tournament back in August. "His record is deceiving and his skill level is much better than the numbers."" Davis adds.

Both men have good boxing and kicking skills which will make for a well rounded bout. Davis' AK Promotions promotes all rule styles sanctioned by the IKF but Davis is especially looking forward to this bout which will be fought under Full Contact - American Kickboxing rules (All kicks above the waist). This one is special to Davis since he won both his World titles in this rule style. "I personally think this fight will be a good one for American Kickboxing." Any way, you put it, it will be a great night with an exciting under card of local fighters.

Of course, Davis (Right) is not waiting on the April 9th event as he will warm things up February 12th, 2005 with another exciting edition of IKF Triple F Kickboxing in Roseville. This event is part of a doubleheader starting with an IKF Point Kickboxing tournament earlier that same day. Davis continues, "I would also like to say thanks to the assistance in bringing this fight together from www.ExtrasOnCall.com a Digital Exposure Corporation." Look for more information to come on the February IKF doubleheader and the April IKF Amateur World Title Fight...or contact AK Promotions at (916) 780-7483 or by email johnnyd@akpromotions.org or go to www.akpromotions.org
