Now Matching IKF Kickboxing- Full Contact for

 Sept.  6th, 2009 - Sacramento Area...

Muay Thai, Hi and Low Kick Styles- Men and Women

Dear Trainers and Fighters,

I’m pleased to announce that AK Promotions in BACK in the Full Contact promotions business!  Those of you who’ve kept us with us and the International Kickboxing Federation (IKF) know that we never strayed too far away as we have been growing the sport of kickboxing through other means like the popular IKF Point Kickboxing Divisions.  IKF Point Kickboxing is continuing to prove that it’s a true incubator for the sport of kickboxing as we witness more and more fighters starting out in this semi contact division and moving into the full contact arena more prepared than in the past.

The goal of growing the sport of kickboxing and using IKF Point Kickboxing as a means to find talent has always been a part of the plan.  That plan has just come a step closer to reality again…as we are preparing to put on some of the most exciting Full Contact Kickboxing action with assorted styles like Muay Thai, Hi and Low Kick Divisions!  With talented men and women who are hungry for a fight, waiting for their chance to showcase their skills to friends, family and fans, I feel assured that we will have an abundance of talent for fans to witness for a long time.

It’s also our goal to find and build recognizable champions to the general public.  This will take a strategic plan and the right fighters.  Therefore, we hope that you will work with us in promoting quality shows as well as making us aware of any untapped talents waiting for their chance to shine.

Finally, we recognize that other promoters are putting on some quality shows in other areas in CA.  We applaud them for keeping this great sport alive and well.  We want to make sure that we respect other kickboxing promoter’s scheduled dates and try and stay as far away from their event dates as possible in order to try and give everyone an opportunity to be successful. I hope that they will return the favor.

We will start our shows out small and conservative with plans to grow in larger venues and fights as we increase our following.  We will do what we can for the fighters but due to the size of the venue at this time again we have to be conservative.  However, it will be a great way to build your record, and showcase your skills to family and friends and prepare for bigger things to come.  Everyone will be treated with the upmost respect and fairness on our shows.

Our First Event will be Sunday, Sept. 6th, 2009 in Rancho Cordova, CA at the Tommy T’s Comedy and Dinner Theatre.  We are currently matching and would like for you to send your fighter (s) information to johnnyd@akpromotions.org   see attached doc for proper info. The show will be under the authority of the CA Athletic Commission and sanctioned by the IKF.  www.IKFKickboxing.com

Thanks again for your past and future support!  We look forward to working with you!

Sincerely,

Johnny Davis

Delgado's IKF Point Kickboxing Tournament...Ultimate!

Mr. Ray Delgado's IKF Point Kickboxing Tournament this past weekend in Santa Clara, CA at the Santa Clara Convention Center was indeed the Ultimate as approx. 50 fighters showed up to test their skills in IKF Point Kickboxing.  It is clear that this semi contact form of kickboxing is getting stronger. Fans packed around the matted floor ring as friends, mother, fathers etc. screamed to the top of their voices for their fighter!  It was no doubt big fun for most.  With this many fighters, there were still no knockouts as IKF officials made it clear that rules must be adhered to but more importantly the NO KNOCKOUT RULE / Semi Contact  is always in full force as one competitor was disqualified for too much contact.

The IKF wants to make it clear to everyone who comes to these events that they are semi contact and if you have another agenda and, or looking for a full contact fight, this this event is not for your.  On the other hand, for those looking for some good sparring and diverse competitions while winning some nice awards...this event is your's to enjoy and take your skills to the next level!  Forward March!

Mr. Ray Delgado and his wonderful staff did an outstanding job in making everyone feel welcomed!  This was no doubt one of the best events this year with  30% growth from last year's event which was the first time he presented it.  More on the Ultimate Nationals click below...Hope to see you there next year!

Former World Champion Brian Swartz Proves
Kickboxing is Still a Winner!

Brian Swartz is no stranger to winning as his career gave him many wins including a world kickboxing championship.  Mr. Swartz has now taken it to another level. Opening his beautiful Undisputed Gym is San Carlos, CA was just a portion of his plan.  But he was no where near done.  Last night, he promoted his first Kickboxing show at the premier Fox Theater in Redwood City, CA and what a grand event!  The theater which seats about 1200 spectators was literally packed to the ceiling as screaming fans showed their support for what very well could have signaled the re-emergence of the great sport of kickboxing in CA.

The fight card featured some of the up and coming fighters from across the state taking on fighters from as far away as Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was clear that the competitors were hungry to showcase their skills just as the fans were ready to see some great standup action...and they were not disappointed!  Most of the 18 fights were well matched and the bouts action packed!  Knockouts, ring girls, celebrities like NFL Super Star Jerry Rice and blasting music was all apart of this great night of fights!

Pictures and more coming soon as well as a full write and results from the International Kickboxing Federation (IKF)

Thanks Brian for an Excellent Show and giving the Sport of Kickboxing a much needed shot in the arm! Forward March!

Plus, well known IKF Point Kickboxing competitor John Duenas of Antioch, CA (4-0) and trained by Mr. Dennis Guila steps it up a notch to win the IKF Super Welterweight West Coast Title in an exciting Full Contact bout in K-1 Rules Division!

IKF Point Kickboxing©  Expanding!

It should come as no surprise to many of you who frequent these and the IKF pages that IKF Point Kickboxing is taking off as many from around the world are getting excited about this competition.  IKF Point Kickboxing is hot and finding many new fans!

Most recently Iran has caught the bug and they are extremely excited about participating in these semi contact events "In fact, I think that many of the competitors here will really enjoy it as they prefer not to get broken up as many in the full contact arena do" says newly appointed IKF Kickboxing and IKF Point Kickboxing Representative Amir Mosadegh of Iran. (Right) He continued " I feel that we can really make IKF Point Kickboxing huge here and throughout other Asian countries and I'm excited about the opportunity to do just that!"

The Iranian IKF Point Kickboxing Division will be making necessary changes to what they have been doing to accommodate the IKF/PKB version.  For example all PKB events will take place on a matted floor as oppose to a boxing ring and the definite NO KNOCKOUT rule will be strongly enforced as well.  Mr. Mosadegh had been studying the rules associated with the IKF/PKB and plans to follow them.  In their most recent event, they had over 400 competitors in a similar semi contact event which will now be call IKF Point Kickboxing.  You can see more on the most recent event and Mr. Mosadegh by clicking on the link below.

Guila Has Large PKB Tourney!

Some kinks this time...but successful!

Feb. 21st, 2009 must have been a full moon based on the turnout of this past weekends IKF Point Kickboxing Tournament in Antioch, CA Either way, one thing for sure there are a lot of kickboxing enthusiast out there who are still venturing in to discover IKF Point Kickboxing and we welcome them with open arms.  Many of them are just now getting their first taste of IKF / PKB but to be honest some of them find there are adjustments that will need to be made in the gym before entering the event.  Although there were some kinks in this event different from others stellar events put on by the Guila Clan, it was a lot of fun!

Over all, most there enjoyed the usual action packed bouts and their were no serious injuries and, or knockouts as they are not allowed!  Moreover, we would like to make clear that we also have no rules against fighters from the same club fighting each other.  Since the event is an open tournament, we are never sure who will show up.  Therefore, matching takes place the morning of the event.  Moreover, since the eventt is one of semi contact, we encourage those who attend to be prepared to fight whom ever in their division....even if from the same club.  However, with that being said, the IKF/PKB will do everything in their ability to keep fighters from the same club from  fighting each other in the elimination round (s).  However, for the sake of good competition for the fans that attend these events, we would like to encourage full participation even if same club members end up competing against each other for the sport or just bragging rights.  :)  Yes, the IKF/PKB experienced some growing pains this past weekend and for this event the credits must go to the efforts of Mr. Guila who actively invites other gyms to give the IKF/PKB a try and they oblige him.

Furthermore, we at the IKF/PKB will monitor the cutoff for registration closer so that we can start the event as advertised to allow participants to better schedule their personal lives and, or eating schedules etc.

We hope those who witnessed the difference and areas of improvements needed to continue to move us forward in the PKB also see the good in this type of semi contact competition and returned with a renewed spirit to participate.  We at the IKF certainly want all clubs and fans to know that they are appreciated but we must follow the rules especially those pertaining to contact.  We will also stick with the semi contact and NO KNOCKOUT rules as this is the core for what this event is all about.  It is the goal of the IKF/PKB to continue to be an incubator for the sport of kickboxing.  In saying that too, we at the IKF/PKB will firmly evaluate all areas of concern for those that express them so that we can come up with solutions that are fair to all. In fact, we are clarifying the ruling below to make clearer for all in regards to the importance of divisions and matches being more fair. Forward March!

Clarification of Ruling for IKF/PKB Representatives at PKB Events regarding divisions and matching:  No Match or Division will take place without the consent of the official IKF/ PKB Representative giving their ok for a match or division. The IKF/PKB Rep. must put their signature on each division form for approval of the match or division. Moreover, all matches must be approved by the trainer and the fighter at the same time in the presence of the Official  IKF/PKB Rep. before any bout or division starts. (a verbal approval is ok)  If the bout has fighters of different age groups or weight classes over 10 pounds, the trainer and, or the fighter must also signoff on the fight moving forward. IKFPKB Rep. maintains the rights to adjust divisions, creating a new division, etc. to make the event more fair. The final decision and approval of bouts or divisions is that of the IKF/PKB rep. This Amended Ruling goes in to affect 2/21/09.  ( It has always been the job of an IKF rep. to oversee the entire event from start to finish, we just wanted to make it clear to everyone involved in the IKFPKB.  More on IKFRep. Duties- Click Here

Special thanks to all of the officials and those who came up and told us how much they enjoyed the event and can't wait until the next one which is March 14th, 2009 in Santa Rosa, CA...more at www.IKFPKB.com

Morello...Stopped in 9th!

Reports are he gave a great Fight!

The "Mad Dog" Mike Morello of Santa Barbara, CA fell a little short in his attempt to capture the IKF World Welterweight Kickboxing Championship this past weekend in England. Nick Gill of England is the new IKF World Welterweight Champion!

More to come later this week!

Pallen's IKF Point Kickboxing Tourney...A Good Start!

Mr. Jordan and Felipe Pallen, long time successful martial arts promoters in Northern, Ca finished up there Golden Gate Martial Arts event over this past weekend.  The three day event was a huge success with over one thousand competitors in assorted forms of martial arts including for the first time, IKF Point Kickboxing divisions.

IKF/PKB Rep Rubie Navarro along with Promoter Dennis Guila assisted IKF/PKB President Johnny Davis in running the PKB divisions and kept the action moving fast!  By all accounts, those that participated enjoyed it and are looking to join the ongoing Northern Ca. Circuit of IKF Point Kickboxing.  Special thanks to the instructors who supported the event, their students and families.

The Pallen family proved yet again that they are willing to step out of the box and continue to promote the sport that they so love.  In the words of Mrs. Jordan, " We do these events for our students...they love it and so do we!"  Forward March and we at the IKF/PKB hope to continue to be a part of this successful event in years to come!  Results coming later this week...

This Weekend- Feb. 28th!

Good Luck... to Mike "Mad Dog" Morello!

Santa Barbara, Ca may be getting a new world champion next weekend!  That is if you leave it to Mike Morello, a Santa Barbara native.  Mike will travel to England later this week to take on British # 1 contender Nick Gill.  Gill has been called the Golden Boy of Kickboxing in England but of course he has never met the Mad Dog!  Morello has great skills and is poised. He will be going there with only one goal...bringing home the Professional IKF World Welterweight Championship!  We wish him much success!

Big Boys Grappling at IKF/PKB Grappling event 1/31/09...Hot Action!

IKF Point Kickboxing and Grappling Tournament & Banquet...Claims Big Success!

Guila: Receives Promoter of the Year- Nahee- Fighter of the Year

1/31/09 - Fighters from across the state showed up this past weekend in Rocklin, CA to kickoff a big year for IKF Point Kickboxing and the Newly formed ISCF West Coast Grappling Circuit!  The action was intense, fans screamed as hands were raised in victory!

Men, Women and Children competed in assorted styles of Kickboxing including High Kick, Low Kick and Muay Thai Semi Contact Divisions.  Chief Referee Dan Stell kept all the action under control  and showed excellence as he allowed fighters to feel the intensity of a real match although the 16 oz for adults and 12 junior boxing gloves kept all the fighters safe!

The Grappling divisions really heated up for the first event of the year.  Chief Official Mr. DeAlba was near perfect in his task and allowed fighters to do their thing! Before the Grappling division started a special moment of silence was given to the late great Helio Gracie... (Mr. Gracie was the head of the Gracie JuJitsu dynasty) it was very sobering moment for everyone in the club..

Additionally, the IKF/PKB Awards Banquet went off without a hitch. Over 80 fighters, trainers and fans stayed around to enjoy the fun and great food at Venita Rheas Restaurant...a restaurant I'm sure many in attendance will be talking about for a while!  Simply put...the food was delicious and the portions off the chain!

Most  people in attendance were last year's divisional champions and received their awards.  Along with that, some other special awards were giving.  Mr. Dennis Guila, (Right) a promoter who always promotes very good events, supports other events and gives a lot to see that fights are fair and fun.  He received the well deserved honor of Promoter of the Year for the IKF/PKB 2008.  IKF West Coast Rep. Rubie Navarro was also recognized for a very good year in keeping a tally of circuit points as well as working at events in many capacities.  Her Father, Mr. Carlos Navarro was also recognized as a supporter of the IKF/PKB.  Moreover, IKF/PKB President Johnny Davis gave credit to Mr. Navarro as the one who gave him the idea about how Semi Contact Kickboxing could be apart of the huge martial arts tournament circuit.

Twelve year old Dynamo Katrina Nahee of Antioch, CA received the well earned Fighter of the Year Award!  Katrina always comes to fight...too often though, there is no one in her division to fight.  Therefore, she often fights boys and still comes out a winner.  She quiet, tough and soft spoken but gear her up and she transforms into a fighter that's confident and almost brilliant in her delivery of techniques.  All in attendance came to their feet as Katrina was given her special Trophy Belt award!

Little Caleb Depello of Sacramento, CA will fight you in any division you want!  He's a tiger! Muay Thai, International, American High Kick, Grappling...you name it...he does it and does it well!  Caleb received the Most Diverse Fighter for 2008.

The year of 2009 looks bright for the IKF/PKB!  More and more competitors are coming out! More and more trainers are starting to see the benefits to their fighters and their clubs.  The IKF/ PKB is the fastest growing sport on the martial arts circuit and this year...its going to yet another level with the continued help of passionate clubs, fighters and fans!  Forward March!

The 'Mad Dog' Mike Morello
Gets His Bone!
Fighting for a World Title in England - February 09!

This past May 8th, former multi time IKF Amateur Champion Mike Morello of Santa Barbara, California, USA (Overall: 10-6-1) made a statement when he defeated England's top Welterweights, George Pattison of Sittingbourne, Kent, England, (30-5, Multi time World Champion) by unanimous decision. Morello who was making his Pro debut simply outworked Pattison and shut him down and fought his fight.

That statement sounded a loud bell for Morello's ability to take on anyone and in doing so he will now get an opportunity to face another one of England's best, Nick Gill of Stevenage, England (18-2) for the vacant IKF Pro Full Contact Rules Welterweight World Title.

The bout and event will be promoted by IKF Full Contact England Representative Colin Payne and has been scheduled for Sunday, February 22nd, 2009 at the "Casino Room" in Rochester, Kent, England.

Guila's IKF PKB Tournament...
Nails It Yet Again!

Dennis Guila and his crew nails another successful event in Antioch, CA.  He packed his gym with enthusiastic fighter from across the state.  There were many new faces at the event and those that were there for the first time said that they " Really enjoyed the event" and plan to make it a part of there regular routine.

The tournament started in good time as IKF PKB President Johnny Davis open with the all too important rules and emphasizing the importance of a semi contact event and no knockout allowed.

Men, Women and Junior went at it with vigor!  Some of the reasons that some of the new faces had not shown up at Point Kickboxing events in the past is because the thought that the term "Kickboxing" meant only above the waist.  Well, lets make it clear, when we at the IKF use the term kickboxing is mean all are only one style of kickboxing.  But for clarity, when we do IKF Point Kickboxing for the most part all three major rule styles are involved.  Point Muay Thai which allows leg kicks and knees to the body.  American Kickboxing, with is high kick only. ( no leg  kicks) and International rules with include leg kicks only and the remaining arsenal involved with kickboxing...boxing and all the kicks.

So, we hope that it is clear, IKF Point Kickboxing represents the three major rules styles of kickboxing and has a division waiting for you at each event.

WE look forward to seeing you at the next IKF Point Kickboxing event in Grass Valley, CA on Oct. 18th.  And also, Nov. 8th in Newcastle, CA will be another exciting event that will include Grappling!

Congratulations again to Mr. Dennis Guila and his Team! ...and by the way, after the event, we all joined in to eat some delicious Oriental Cuisine while being serenaded by Dennis Guila's singing and playing the bongos in great Hawaiian fashion. Guila demonstrated some nice vocals and Impressive skills on the bongos!  :)

Terri Storm
Accepts IKF/PKB Advisory Post!

One would not have to go far to hear the name Terri Storm (Right) of Omaha, NE in the Martial Arts Community. Mrs. Storm has been an important figure in the martial arts for many years. As a Mother and Martial Arts Instructor, she has a strong presence where ever she goes. She is well respected as a highly capable judge, official and referee and shows impressive ability as a communicator.

Her talents caught the eyes of CEO and IKF President Steve Fossum some time back as he appointed her and husband Mike Storm (Left) as World Officials to the International Kickboxing Federation. In the last couple of years Mrs. Storm as stepped up to the plate to offer IKF Point Kickboxing President Johnny Davis (Right) a hand at the IKF/PKB World Classic in Orlando, Florida and has done an outstanding job keeping the fights organized and running smoothly. She and her husband have promoted hundred of Karate tournaments and the PKB Semi Contact Tournaments were a natural transition for her.

Davis has been so impressed with her guidance and leadership at the IKF World Classic that he recently asked if she would be interested in an advisory position with the IKF/PKB and she accepted.

"I'm totally elated that someone with the background of Terri would agree to work with a growing part of the IKF. Her knowledge and skill will be a tremendous addition to the already growing and talented team of advisors. I would like to thank her again for officially joining the IKF/ PKB and look forward to working with her as the PKB Division of the IKF continues to surge!" said Johnny Davis.

Terri Storm has been studying Martial Arts for 25 years. During much of her career she was a forms and point sparring competitor and was the Tae-Kwon-Do America Women's National Champion in 1993 (her husband, Mike Storm, was the Men's Champion the same year). She began judging and refereeing point sparring in the late 1980s and judging/refereeing full contact kickboxing in the 1990s under the tutelage and certification of Kuhn Fred Fitzgerald. She has been officiating IKF events since 1999 and was the first woman to referee a Professional Muay Thai fight in Mexico . She and husband Mike own and operate 2 full-time martial arts schools in Omaha , Nebraska. IKF Point Kickboxing Fights Sets a New Tone...at IKF World Classic!

Pictures, and More...Coming Soon!
Results Below...

Orlando, Fl- July 19, 2009 - Exciting! Fantastic! We Want More!  These are some of the phrases you would have heard this past weekend at the IKF World Classic in Orlando, Fl.  The first official year of IKF Point Kickboxing  (PKB) Tournament brought a new tone to the IKF World Classic Kickboxing Championship which is the "Golden Gloves" for Kickboxing practitioners around the world. Held at the World's Largest Marriott, the semi contact event that made its inaugural introduction last year 2008, was met with great enthusiasm this year as more fighters came prepared to battle.  Some of the competitors had intended as well as signed up for the Full Contact divisions for the World Classic but due to several reasons like their opponents not showing up or they did not make weight for example, they had the option to roll their registration into the semi contact division of the PKB and competed there.  This only added more spice to the divisions and offered the packed house of World Classic Teams who were delayed due to some computer issues an opportunity to witness what is for sure the most exciting new form of semi contact fighting on the scene!

The cheers and support for their team mates was real as some of the fighters gave their all as first time competitors while more advance fighters showed their students what it was all about.  In the senior men's division, clearly masters of their own disciplines like Tae-Kwon- Do and other styles, showed extremely impressive kicking ability like jump spinning back kicks, axe kicks and more.  But as many of them attested to, the 16 oz gloves certainly offered a scrutiny different from other tournaments as their conditioning was seriously challenged.  The Two-Two minute rounds of continuous fighting...plus the one extra round tie breaker that some of them had to fight was much more than they had bargained for but they held their own.

As they left with their trophies, one would have thought it was like winning the beautiful World Classic championship belts...although not quiet the same... still winning the World Classic PKB was no easy task and well deserving to flaunt. The following day, in speaking with several of those about their IKF/PKB experience- although you could clearly see the bruises and limps, they could hardly wait for next year to bring it on!

As one on-looker and trainer noted, " I had no idea what Point Kickboxing was all about, being that I have a large school here in Florida, I will bring many more of my fighters next year as this type of competition may be better suited for some for them the first time out."  This was the sentiment over the entire weekend especially from those that witnessed the blazing action of fist and feet a' flying!  This is awesome news for the IKF Point Kickboxing division and the tournament as a whole.  From this day forward, its not just the most experienced person in the gym that can compete in the IKF World Classic but there is now a place for everyone practicing one of the greatest forms of martial arts.  Men, Women and Children from 5 on up can compete in IKF Point Kickboxing!

Based on all of the positive comments about the intensity of the action and the realistic fighting style of the PKB...the word is out that IKF/PKB will be a major part of the IKF World Classic hence forth and fighters around the world can start to prepare now for what will be an event growing by major leaps and major bounds.   2009, a new tone has arrived for the IKF World Classic...let's make if a kickboxing family affair...See you There!

Special Thanks to IKF Official Mrs. Terri Storm (L)  and so many more of the World Classic Officials who stepped up and did an excellent job keeping the flow of the IKF/PKB tournament.
