IKF/PKB World Classic Deadline Extended!

As a note to those still pondering whether they have time to enter the IKF Semi Contact Point Kickboxing Divisions at the IKF World Classic this July 18, 19th and 20th...the answer is YES!  We have set the deadline for entry in this event until 5:PM on July 18th, 2008.  This means that you can walk your registration right up and still enter to compete in one of the hottest new divisions on the tournament scene!  Registration fee for IKF/PKB divisions will remain the same until registration deadline on the 18th.

For those of you that are still pondering whether to enter, you should really stop the procrastination and jump in!  You will find that IKF/PKB is rewarding and challenging as well as tons of fun!  The event is for men, women and children and is all semi contact where no knockouts are allowed.  Its great for the beginner fighters but also gives a great work to those seeking to improve their timing and endurance.  Seniors can also compete.  If you thought your sparring days were over but you are still in the gym...this is your chance to put on the pads and get in some real work.  The sparring of diverse opponents will only enhance your skills as well as better prepares you for any self defense issue you might encounter.  Moreover, you have numerous weight classes to choose from and you receive nice awards to show off to your friends.

The event is done on the floor and not in the ring as well as it is continuous fighting for two- two minute rounds with one minute rest between.  There is also a possibility of a third round as a tie breaker if needed.  Adults wear 16 oz. gloves and Juniors wear 12 oz. gloves with all the other armor of full protection...headgear, foot pads, groin protectors etc. There are divisions for High and Low Kick.  Finally, you can also win double circuit point to becoming an IKF/PKB East or West Coast Circuits Champion. OK, no more excuses... gear up and Bring It On!

This is only the second year that IKF/PKB is in the World Classic and we think it is and will play a large role for the future growth of Kickboxing.  We hope to see you this year at the IKF World Classic competing in IKF Point Kickboxing divisions.

Jay Perry Pulls Off First

IKF Point Kickboxing Event!

Grass Valley, CA- This past weekend, Jay Perry of Perry's Full Circle Martial Arts of Grass Valley, CA had his first IKF Point Kickboxing event.  Several gyms showed up to get a first hand look at the new craze in tournament competition...semi- contact kickboxing!  Many did just that has they competed for the first time in such an event. One gets the message very quickly that IKF Point Kickboxing is more than what it seems especially once you get in the ring with 16 oz gloves on.  Conditioning plays a huge role and those that had been doing other forms of conditioning and ended up fighting in the PKB divisions struggled to finish rounds...but they did.

Perry admitted that the event could have had many more competitors but due to his new addition to his family arriving just a week or so earlier and his moving into a 5000 square foot full scale gym with all the amenities, he simple ran out of time to give the event the attention it needed.  However, Perry promised that his Oct. 25th event back in Grass Valley will be as big as his gym can accommodate.  Based on the moderate success of this event, there is not doubt he will have a tremendous turnout!

Those that came were not disappointed overall, as all of them had matches and the opportunity to feel the action of IKF Point Kickboxing.  Most of them vowed that although this type of event and what it takes to prepare for it caught them a little off guard, next time...they will be ready!

Those that competed this past week will earn their valuable West Coast Circuit PKB Points that will help determine the best fighters in the divisions at the end of the year!

Results Coming Soon!

This Past Weekend Rocked!

 IKF Point Kickboxing Divisions...A Hit!

The Results from the event... coming soon!

May 25, 2008 - Santa Clara, CAMaster Ray Delgado (Right) hosted his Ultimate National Karate Tournament this past weekend at the beautiful Santa Clara Convention Center and there is no wonder he calls the ultimate...it is indeed that!  The event was loaded with different forms of martial arts from Kung Fu to Grappling to Jujitsu and IKF Point Kickboxing... to name a few. It was an awesome event!  With well over 600 competitors traveling from across the United States, Mr. Delgado is certainly one of the most respected martial arts promoters on the circuit today.

Moreover, the kindness and proficiency of his staff made the event run smoothly with few issues for an event this size.

The IKF/PKB Dept. was impressed with so many kickboxers showing up as they have heard about its popularity.  There were a lot of newcomers who got their feet wet for the first time in Kickboxing as well as a lot of curious on-lookers who were promising that they would be in there next year but chose to sit it this time to see what it was all about. As always though, several fighters got a real dose of what IKF/PKB was all about as several of them were too gassed to continue their bouts as well as some puked in the middle of their matches... :) Now, that funny!...but real!  More and more PKB fighters are getting the idea that they have to be in shape to do it effectively.

Well, based on many of the comments that IKF West Coast Rep. Ms. Ruby Navarro (Right) received, the event will double in participation next year. Ms. Navarro is doing an excellent job keeping records of the PKB Circuit Points as well as overseeing all aspects of the tournaments. We would also like to say thanks to IKF/PKB Promoter Mr. Dennis Guila and some of his staff who assisted with the event. As always, we are thankful to all of the trainers and instructors who come out and were quick to assist us with judging if needed.

In Closing, Mr. Delgado seemed very pleased with the turnout and operation of the IKF/PKB Tournament and committed to having IKF Point Kickboxing as part of his May 30, 2009 Tournament...The IKF/PKB gladly accepts his invitation.  We are sure that PKB fighters are also taking note and marking their calendars.

More on this event- Contact - Mr. Delgado directly at (707)-643-7778

WEDNESDAY, May 14th, 2008, AT 10:00 PM, PT

START COUNTING...

First Deadline June 20
ENGLAND LEADS THE WAY...

In The Quest for The Gold at The
2008

IKF World Classic Amateur Kickboxing Championships!

Including IKF Semi Contact Kickboxing Divisions... www.IKFPKB.com

In 2006, 2 weeks before the First Deadline we had around 20 fighters registered for the IKF World Classic. Last year before the first deadline of July 13th, we had 36 fighters. Today we are well over a month from the First Deadline for 2008 of June 20th and we already have 16 Registered Fighters.

That may not seem like a lot now but if the growth numbers continue as in past years, this could be the Largest turnout yet in the 9 year history of the IKF Championship Tournaments.

Already two camps in Florida are making bold statements that they will each have over 20 fighters. Last year the entire state of Florida registered 25 fighters and finished second to the State with the most registered fighters, Georgia with 31, up from 19 the year before in Iowa.

Although Kickboxing has been extremely quiet in the Peach State of Georgia, word has it that there are plenty of hungry kickboxers there who are ready to make the trip to Orlando and re-claim their title for Most Registered Fighters yet again.

It will be a mystery to see what California brings to "The Show" this year. Last year the Golden State finished a close third to Georgia and Florida with 24 registered fighters. With sincere regret, Dennis Guila of Antioch California will not be able to attend this year. Guila and his school will be at their Martial arts tournament they do every year and this year it just so happened to fall on the very same weekend. We will surly miss them this year with all the top talent they brought last year. Last year Team Guila brought 6 fighters and walked away with 4 World Classic Titles! The only ones who will not miss Team Guila this year will be those in the divisions they would have been in.

The team with the most titles last year was
Team Danny Dring
of Sherwood, Arkansas!

Team Dring - LDMA brought 9 fighters and walked away with 5 World Classic Titles. Two other Teams brought home 4 titles as well, Team Sarkine - IMAC of Indianapolis, Indiana and the ever present Team Han of El Paso, Texas. This past year two of the Han's turned Professional. Jennifer and Abraham Han won't be able to fight but lets hope they still bring their sisters Stephanie and Heather to contend. With them, Texas brought 11 fighters to the Classic in 2007.

As in any of the tournaments we have spoken to trainers and fighters from all over North America and in Europe about their plans to bring fighters. However, as in anything, the only thing that counts is taking the step of Action and actually showing up to "Walk The Walk" against the Best Amateur Kickboxers in the World!

We will all know soon but regardless of who chooses to "Walk The Walk" at this years 2008 IKF World Classic Amateur Kickboxing Championships in Orlando Florida this year.

What we do know is that the IKF Staff and the 16 fighters registered right now will show up in Orlando to "Walk The Walk" with the Best in the World and win the original Amateur Golden Gloves of Kickboxing World Tournament Title

and become an IKF World Classic Champion!
We hope many more of you join the Fight Party with us.

We look forward to seeing "The BEST" Amateur Kickboxers In The World... In Orlando!

Drop the Gauntlet!
& Bring It ON!

20,000 fans gathered for the event below...We at AKP hope to continue our promotions of this great sport in the near future!

Marinoble's IKF Point Kickboxing Tournament...Rocked!

Roseville, CA- Today, Sat. 3/22/08 Former IKF World Middleweight Kickboxing Champion Dave 'Madman' Marinoble packed the house with a semi contact tournament that included Kumite, Grappling, Pankration, Sports Jujitsu, Submission Grappling and IKF Point Kickboxing©.

Fans and fighters came from across the state to witness and participate in one of the fastest growing tournament style competitions!  The tournament was full of excitement as you could look in all corners of the well equipped gym and see exciting martial arts competition.

IKF Point Kickboxing Results from Antioch, CA

Coming Later This Week!

Antioch, CA Feb. 24, 2008 - Another exciting event of IKF Point Kickboxing happened this past weekend in Antioch, CA.  Earlier this past week, we talked about the kicks missing in kickboxing...not this weekend!  We witnessed all kinds of kicks being thrown along with impressive boxing as each opponent tried to get the upper hand in exciting semi- contact action!  Fighters as heavy as 350lbs competed and threw head kicks that brought looks of wonder from the crowd!  We also witnessed fighters who did not take the event serious enough and become gassed before the first round was over.  The referee had stop several matches due to a few fighters being too exhausted to compete effectively and the bout became unsafe.

This is part of the beauty of IKF Point Kickboxing in that it gives fighters a chance to evolve without the embarrassment of being humiliated and knocked  out.

Fighters traveled as far away as 500 miles to attend this weekend's event and I don't think they left disappointed as they got plenty of action and their skilled were tested to the max.!

We hope to see more fighters come to attend the events as the exciting IKF/PKB 2008 Circuit continues.  In the words of top trainer Billy Olsen of Santa Rosa, CA "I kick myself for not getting involved 5 years ago when Johnny ask me to attend!" Mr. Olsen and his team attended their first event this past January 2008 in Sacramento and in his own words " we are hooked and will be attending all of the events especially to help us get ready for the IKF World Classic in  July this year!"  The IKF World Classic is the largest amateur kickboxing event in the world and offers Full Contact and Semi Contact competition.  See more Click Here.

Who will be crowned champion for 2008!

See you March 22, 2008 in Roseville, CA for the next edition of IKF Point Kickboxing!

What is Kickboxing Missing?
Kicking?
Or Is There More...

By IKF President Steve Fossum

Former Heavyweight IKF Champion Mark Selbee shows off dynamic kicking ability!

By Johnny Davis

IKF President Mr. Steve Fossum  is passionate about rebuilding what is now the fledgling great sport of Kickboxing.  Kickboxing is no doubt one of the most exciting contact sports ever!  But in recent years, it has lost some of its fervor.  Mr. Fossum examines the possibility that perhaps its because of the lack of kicking that has turned many fans away  from kickboxing and in to the arms of mixed martial arts.  He may indeed have a point.  He makes solid statements throughout the article and the it is certainly a must read.  The IKF is committed to kickboxing and is really now diving in to examine and motivate those who have lost their way in growing the sport.  Perhaps, Mr. Fossum's article can be a beacon light of hope for those who have given up on kickboxing.

As President of AK Promotions, I too feel that the lack of kicking in this great sport has seriously hindered its growth and has taken away a lot of its excitement.  Regardless of the style of kickboxing you do...Muay Thai, International or American type kickboxing, the kicks must stand out in order to keep the sport true to its self.

My passion has always been with kickboxing and my commitment to its resurgence is strong and unwavering!   As we continue to grow the IKF/PKB division of kickboxing, we too are searching for the next superstars of kickboxing. I see potential for stardom at each event and when we start our Full Contact promotions again, I feel assured that those stars will show up and rule the ranks as well as be marquee fighters for years to come!

As I have always said, we will rebuild kickboxing with a grass root effort in taking it from the gym.  IKF Point Kickboxing© is giving all of those interested the opportunity to secure serious skill and confidence to compete in the sport of kickboxing.  As a result, we will no doubt have better prepared and more talented fighters that will delight fans again all over the world with impressive KICKboxing techniques! As in the words of William Cullen Bryant... Truth Crushed to the Earth will Rise Again...Kickboxing will Return...To Be Continued...

N.C. IKF Point Kickboxing Results and Circuit Announced!

February 18, 2008- Indian Trail, NC- IKF PKB North Carolina Representative and Promoter Mr. Sean Griffin (R)reports another fun and exciting IKF Point Kickboxing tournament this past weekend (February 16, 2008).  Moreover, he was proud to announce the start of the North Carolina PKB Circuit.  With nine events schedule for the West Coast and only three currently schedule on the East Coast, Mr. Griffin and IKF /PKB President Johnny Davis came up with the idea to expand the semi contact circuit to NC to give those from the East Coast a better chance of winning a title at the end of the year.

The Circuit Points will be kept by Mr. Griffin who will past them on to the IKF/PKB at the end of the year.  The championship titles and awards will be given at the end of this year and, or at the first event of the following year.  Although the East Coast events are not quiet as large as the West Coast events yet, this should add to the excitement of the tournaments as each competitors now knows that they have a bigger purpose for getting the win!

Mr. Griffin said, that "I'm excited about what the circuit offers to the NC Point Kickboxing competitors. I feel that it is the first step to really growing the PKB in this area.  Several promoters have expressed interest in promoting IKF/PKB events and I look forward to adding more events to the circuit in the coming months.  Mr. Davis has mentioned that if the timing is right, he will come to NC to help present the awards to the champions...that would be impressive and exciting as it would show competitors that the IKF appreciates all levels of competitors! "
