AK Promotions Scores a Knockout Show
with Sellout Results!
IKF Muay Thai CA State Champion Caley Scott Successfully defends his title
Nadya Lynn Lorenz of Grass Valley, CA shows her skill with a left round kick to the head Joslyn Mikow of San Francisco, CA on her way to a decision win
One would have to have been in attendance to describe the intensity in the room at the Tommy T's Comedy and Dinner Theatre in Rancho Cordova, CA as IKF Championship Kickboxing Fight Night kicked off its first show promoted by AK Promotions. The only disappointment you would have had to deal with was finding a seat as there were none left. When we say standing room only, this is not a cliché, it was real and anyone there will tell you the same. Its clear that Kickboxing is as great as we here at AKP continuously say and we are so thankful for all of the fighters, trainers, family and friends that attended this excellent display of feet and fists of fury!
Fighters and fans alike were pumped as the Wait Staff hustled to get them drinks and food. The music was blaring and the lights aglow giving a bit of Vegas ambiance as advertised. Announcer Wayne Wilson did an excellent job and kept with the beat of the night bringing each fighter to the ring with excitement and enthusiasm one would expect as such and event. Singer Lisa Gardenia did an awesome and very professional job performing the National Anthem. In fact, many feel it was her almost perfect delivery of the Anthem that put a positive start to the event.
In the final bout of the evening, IKF Champ Caley
Scott of Concord, CA was able to hold on to his title with a
close decision win over the tough Robert Cornejo of Milpitas,
CA in a rematch. Pictured at right, Scott shows Cornejo and future
challengers of his IKF title that he can take a punch! Also, seasoned IKF Point Kickboxing star
Jesse Agricula of
Sonoma, CA fell a little short in his first attempt in full contact in
one of if not the best fight of
the night against talented Quincy Schoeman of Oakdale,
CA.
Although disappointed after his loss, Argricula can easily redeem himself as he fought like a warrior from start to finish. The crowd really got into this one and perhaps somewhere down the road these two will meet again. With a win over Agricula, Schoeman is one to watch.
Also Daniel Hodges of Rocklin, CA continues to move forward in his defeat of Laku Pellici of San Francisco. In one of the most exciting fights of the night, super heavyweight Casey Knowles of Oakdale, CA and Joel Morris of Vacaville, CA had the crowd on their feet throughout the fight! Both men showed a lot of guts and grit. However, the crowd often responded to the light footed Joel Morris as he came out of the closet with an arsenal of acrobatic kicks that were beautifully displayed and often landed clean. But Knowles hung in there strong as this fight would end in a well deserved draw. Thanks again to everyone for assisting us in our quest for the Next Great Kickboxing Champion!
Full results coming later this week from the exciting night of Tommy T's IKF Championship Kickboxing Fights! Next event is tentatively set for Sunday, Dec. 6th, 2009

Free Comedy Show for Fighters and Fans ..TONIGHT!
Hello Fight Fans,
Tommy T's is offering you a free comedy show tonight for the adults in the group.

IKF
Championship Kickboxing
Brings A Little Bit of Vegas To
Rancho Cordova, California, USA!
AKP
Press: The waiting is almost over and approximately 36
fighters with trainers, family and friends in tow will be traveling from
across the State of California to Rancho Cordova to see if they can best
their opponent in Full Contact Knockout Kickboxing action! So far, setting
up the card has gone pretty smoothly and we hope that all continues to go
well. One thing for sure, fighters and fans are jazzed about the show and
hundreds of them are pledging to come and give their support. Many of them
are curious to see how this will all work in a comedy and dinner theatre
but may be surprise of the ambiance that the club creates for such a show.
With a full Bar, spot lights, ring girls and great music, Las Vegas will
feel like a step away as you enter the fight arena at Tommy
T's Comedy and Dinner Theatre this Sunday Night!
The sport of kickboxing is definitely one of the most exciting contact sports in the world. Yes, it had to take a back seat the Mixed Martial Arts...at least for now but fans will let you know that they love this ultimate striking sport and will pay to watch it whenever they can. Kick boxers on the card and around the world are waiting for more opportunities to showcase their excellent skills and athleticism that's required to excel in this multi tasking sport. Kickboxing...like boxing takes years to acquire precise timing, speed, power with hands and feet that few ever get to this level. Although Kickboxing has been around for many years, there are yet many more years to come before it reaches it crescendo. The aforementioned statement also goes for the sport of Mixed Martial Arts...where you have a good puncher, or kicker or grappler but rarely do you see all of these skills amassed in one fighter. Some would argue that they are beginning to see this transformation but like Kickboxing, it will take many more years for mma to reach this pentacle.
For now though, both sports will be able to hold their own as both of them are exciting and fun to watch! As a promotions' company, AK Promotions is committed to promoting the sport of kickboxing and looking for future talented and recognizable Kickboxing champions. It's not that we may not venture into other areas as we already do, from festivals, to comedy shows, IKF Point Kickboxing, Grappling and perhaps even a few MMA shows down the road. However, just know, Kickboxing is our first love and passion and taking it to new heights is our ultimate goal. One thing for sure, whatever we do in the area, we will bring that Las Vegas appeal right to your back yard!
We thank all in advance for their support of the upcoming show this Sunday, September 6th at Tommy T's in Rancho Cordova, CA and the shows to come! Forward March!
For Tickets Call (916) 357-5233 or use your credit card at www.tommyt's.com or purchase them at the door.

AK Promotions Set for BIG
Fight Night at Tommy T's Comedy and Dinner Theatre!
Rancho Cordova, CA
In
approximately one month from now, Sacramento and area fight fans will get yet another chance to see a great show of
Kickboxing. The
Sacramento area
has been fortunate to have put on some
pretty nice shows in the past few months like the well attended show of
Former Mixed Martial Arts Champion Uriajh Faber of Sacramento, CA. It was clear
by the energy in the fight arena at the Radisson Hotel that this area is ready
and has much love for the
ultimate striking sport- Kickboxing! Kickboxing has been
dangling on the lower
skirt tail of contact sports for the past few years and had to take a back
seat to such hybrids sports as MMA. However, this great sport is on the
comeback thanks to promoters in the Bay Area like former World Champ Brian
Schwartz of Redwood City and Tim Stell of Fairfield, CA...to name
a few. All of these promoters have continued to endorse their passion for the sport
resulting in keeping it alive in challenging times.
AK Promotions based out of Rocklin, CA is now ready to join back in the action promoting their first show in about three years... Sunday, Sept. 6th ...Labor Day weekend in Rancho Cordova, CA. The event will take place at the popular Tommy T's Comedy Club and Dinner Theatre located at 12401 Folsom, Blvd. in Rancho Cordova, CA. (916)357-5233
The excitement is starting to build for these electrifying fights between men and women! Muay Thai, Hi and Low Kick bouts will make this show one not to miss! The action will be hot and heavy as feet and fists of fury will fly with knockout action! Lightweights to Super Heavyweight bouts are currently scheduled to do battle! The ambiance of the club complete with spot lights, bar, excellent food, great music coupled with a ring at center stage, will give a Las Vegas feel to what will be a great night out for those looking for some thrilling sports entertainment!
Doors will open around 4:30 PM and an Silent Auction
will kickoff around 5:15. You can get there early and start the
celebration for the excellent event you will witness that evening. Autographed
Memorabilia from all-time greats will be on display and most of the money
raised will go to support local charities. So, we encourage your participation.
At 6:PM the event will start with the National Anthem and
shortly after, the first bout of the night will begin.
Right after the fights, there will be a standup comedian who will use the ring
as his stage for the evening , so you may want to make plans to hang around
and enjoy and night of comedy! ( may be an additional cost)
Fighters from
Northern and Southern CA will be
competing in this
event. But to top off the night, we will have a main event which will
certainly have everyone talking...IKF Champion Caley Scott
(right) of Concord, CA
who
trains with multiple World Champion Mr. George Tutsui will be
defending his Amateur Muay Thai Kickboxing West Coast
Middleweight Title against the tough Robert Cornejo of Milpitas, CA who
trains with former champ Mr. Rudi Ott. This is a rematch where
only a few months back, Scott defeated Cornejo by a close decision and you can
believe that Cornejo won't take a second shot at this title lightly! Scott
will need to bring his A- Game and not take Cornejo for granted as the smallest
error on this evening could mean a new champion!
This will be a great night to remember for fight fans but
here is a serious warning...DON'T WAIT TO GET
YOUR TICKETS...this is
not an extremely large venue and based on the hype that's already starting and
with popular local fighters like Daniel Hodges (left) and Female fighter-
Nadya Lynn Lorenz of Rocklin, we are in for a great night of
action!. Plus, local Muay Thai fighters- Banden Mackie,
Clifford Smith and Alvaro Cabrera of Muay Thai Kickboxing of Sacramento and a
hint of even more talent like top IKF Point Kickboxing star Jesse Agricula
( Right) of Sonoma, CA on board,
tickets will sell fast! (complete fight list coming soon)

Navarro's Scores with Exciting IKF Point Kickboxing Tournament...
Mr. Carlos and daughter Rubie Navarro hosted their annual martial arts event in Sacramento, CA. The event, normally held in San Francisco area was moved to the Sacramento area after the Navarro's received notice of construction on their normal site. With a little help from Sacramento IKF Point Kickboxing Promoters Mr. Yong and Mr. Rick of Muay Thai Lao of Sacramento, they were able to get the location for them. One would think that the last minute shuffling would affect the tournament and the IKF Point Kickboxing fighters participation but that was not the case...at least for the IKF/PKB competitors. PKB fighters came from as far as Santa Barbara, CA to compete in the event and the competition between men, women and juniors in Muay Thai, Hi and low kick style kickboxing was exciting and well received by the fans in the audience. In the end, the Navarros with a little help from friends scored nicely in pulling off a successful event.

World Classic IKF Point Kickboxing Results
Orlando, FL
With the completion of another exciting and successful IKF World Classic Tournament, IKF Point Kickboxing continues to enlighten as well as give opportunity to compete in an exciting event such as the semi contact IKF Point Kickboxing© divisions designed for men, women and children 5 years and up.
Once again... this year, the person to beat in the men's division was the flasher and talented senior fighter Enrique Franceschi. Franceschi is gifted with great flexibility, high and fast kicks that his opponents just can't seem to get out of the way of. He mixes his kicks and punches with such fluidity that opponents do not know where the tech. is coming from and in no time flat...bang...he got you yet again with his trademark jump spinning back kick! Its know doubt the man to beat in the IKF World Classic if Enrique as it seems that each year he is getting better and better and more prepared for stiffer competition as the IKF/PKB grows in the World Classic.
Here is a name to remember Raphael Marascio of Helmets New Jersey - this kid does it all- Grappling, Kickboxing and MMA...you name it, he does it but the real art here is that he is only 7 years old...that's right 7! ( this is not a typo). It's clear to anyone who witnessed this kid competing that he is being groomed for the big leagues and the fight world should be served notice that he coming and coming to get the recognition he will deserve as one of the best! On this day, he would take on one of the toughest young 7 year old girls I think I have ever seen Lanna Peoples of Little Rock, AK. She gave Raphael all he could handle on this day. It was obvious that he had to dig for this win. This bout had people screaming to the top of their voices and on their feet! It was indeed one of the most exciting bouts perhaps of the entire event...I know...its semi contact but to see these two so intensed and aggressive was very, very entertaining and was certainly a major highlight of the event as people talked about it all weekend.
Although we had a diverse mix of competitors this year that called for some creative divisions, we hope that as more people learn of IKF Point Kickboxing that they will register early so that others can see that they will have competition. Also, we are attempting to try and find the right time to host this event at the World Classic. We were informed that we lost about 15 competitors due to changing the competition to the evening as opposed to the morning as it was last year. Some liked it and some had issues with it. This that we lost would have been fine either way but just need more time to adjust their personal schedules. We will hopefully come to a conclusion on the best time to have the tournament or whether to have it at all at the Classic by the end of this year so that everyone can be prepared. Feel free to send your thoughts and comments to johnnyd@akpromotions.org

West Coast Has Two New IKF World Classic Champions!
Nahee shown here with Johnny Davis accepting her 2008 IKF/PKB Fighter of the Year Award
Congratulations to12 year old and 2008 IKF Point Kickboxing fighter of the Year Katrina Nahee of Antioch, CA ( Nahee is trained by Mr. Dennis Guila) and 8 year old Alexander Dumas of Lemon Grove, CA ( who also competed in IKF Point Kickboxing Tournaments) on winning an IKF World Classic Championship this past weekend in Orlando, CA. These fights are by far semi contact and each of them were going for the knockout and giving it their all! I witnessed each of these fighters over the two day event and both of them took no prisoners defeating fighters from across the country and beyond! With over 270 registered fighters from around the world, only about 70 of them can call themselves a world champion today...the aforementioned names are two of them! Anyone who knows me, know that I have a point here...IKF Point Kickboxing is the true incubator for future champions! Congratulations again! West Coast Represent! :)
Navarro's Martial Arts and IKF Point Kickboxing Tournament...
Temporarily Moves to New Location...Sacramento
Event Scheduled for August 8th, 2009
Normally, the Navarro family would have their successful martial arts tournament in the San Francisco, CA area. However, because of construction in progress at the gymnasium they would normally have their event, they are now moving it to the Sacramento, area. The longstanding tournament consist of assorted forms of martial arts from Kata, Weapons, Kumite and yes, IKF Point Kickboxing. The location will be held this year on August 8th at:
Rio Tierra Junior High School Gymnasium -
3201 Northstead Drive
Sacramento, California, USA
95833
Yes, if this location sounds familiar its because its the same location that we had our last event promoted by Sacramento Mauy Thai. Once the promoters were informed about the dilemma, they graciously stepped in to lend a hand and keep the tournament as well as the IKF Point Kickboxing Circuit event in place. Many of the regular IKF Point Kickboxing fighters were inquiring about the event so that they can continue to garner their points in route to trying to capture the IKF PKB Championship at the end of the year.
So, thanks to Mr. Yong and Rick for stepping in and assisting the Navarro's and the Sport! For more information on the Navarro's event...contact them at (415)550-1694 or email them at Email

Now Matching IKF Kickboxing- Full Contact for
Sept. 6th, 2009 - Sacramento Area...
Muay Thai, Hi and Low Kick Styles- Men and Women
Dear
Trainers and Fighters,
I’m pleased to announce that AK Promotions in BACK in the Full Contact promotions business! Those of you who’ve kept us with us and the International Kickboxing Federation (IKF) know that we never strayed too far away as we have been growing the sport of kickboxing through other means like the popular IKF Point Kickboxing Divisions. IKF Point Kickboxing is continuing to prove that it’s a true incubator for the sport of kickboxing as we witness more and more fighters starting out in this semi contact division and moving into the full contact arena more prepared than in the past.
The goal of growing the sport of kickboxing and using IKF Point Kickboxing as a means to find talent has always been a part of the plan. That plan has just come a step closer to reality again…as we are preparing to put on some of the most exciting Full Contact Kickboxing action with assorted styles like Muay Thai, Hi and Low Kick Divisions! With talented men and women who are hungry for a fight, waiting for their chance to showcase their skills to friends, family and fans, I feel assured that we will have an abundance of talent for fans to witness for a long time.
It’s
also our goal to find and build recognizable champions to the general public.
This will take a strategic plan and the right fighters.
Therefore, we hope that you will work with us in promoting quality
shows as well as making us aware of any untapped talents waiting for their
chance to shine.
Finally,
we recognize that other promoters are putting on some quality shows in other
areas in CA. We applaud them for
keeping this great sport alive and well.
We want to make sure that we respect other kickboxing promoter’s
scheduled dates and try and stay as far away from their event dates as
possible in order to try and give everyone an opportunity to be successful. I
hope that they will return the favor.
We will start our shows out small and conservative with plans to grow in larger venues and fights as we increase our following. We will do what we can for the fighters but due to the size of the venue at this time again we have to be conservative. However, it will be a great way to build your record, and showcase your skills to family and friends and prepare for bigger things to come. Everyone will be treated with the upmost respect and fairness on our shows.
Our First Event will be Sunday, Sept. 6th, 2009 in Rancho Cordova, CA at the Tommy T’s Comedy and Dinner Theatre. We are currently matching and would like for you to send your fighter (s) information to johnnyd@akpromotions.org see attached doc for proper info. The show will be under the authority of the CA Athletic Commission and sanctioned by the IKF. www.IKFKickboxing.com
Thanks
again for your past and future support! We
look forward to working with you!

Delgado's IKF Point Kickboxing Tournament...Ultimate!
Mr. Ray Delgado's IKF Point Kickboxing Tournament this past weekend in Santa Clara, CA at the Santa Clara Convention Center was indeed the Ultimate as approx. 50 fighters showed up to test their skills in IKF Point Kickboxing. It is clear that this semi contact form of kickboxing is getting stronger. Fans packed around the matted floor ring as friends, mother, fathers etc. screamed to the top of their voices for their fighter! It was no doubt big fun for most. With this many fighters, there were still no knockouts as IKF officials made it clear that rules must be adhered to but more importantly the NO KNOCKOUT RULE / Semi Contact is always in full force as one competitor was disqualified for too much contact.
The IKF wants to make it clear to everyone who comes to these events that they are semi contact and if you have another agenda and, or looking for a full contact fight, this this event is not for your. On the other hand, for those looking for some good sparring and diverse competitions while winning some nice awards...this event is your's to enjoy and take your skills to the next level! Forward March!
Mr. Ray Delgado and his wonderful staff did an outstanding job in making everyone feel welcomed! This was no doubt one of the best events this year with 30% growth from last year's event which was the first time he presented it. More on the Ultimate Nationals click below...Hope to see you there next year!
